Tips and Tricks For Starting a Blog Page

Hello, my lovely readers. I hope everyone is well and stay safe during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Today I have a requested post. I have been asked to share some tips and tricks for starting a blog page.

I would like to personally thank every single reader, helper, and supporter I have ever had and currently have. I appreciate all the feedback and encouragement I have received and continue to receive. All the times that I posted and saw people aaaaacccccccctttttttuuuuuuaaaaallllllllyyyyyyyy read my content brought so much joy and excitement I can’t even begin to express it. The first post went up on the 7th of December of 2018 and on the 2nd of September 2021 was officially 1000 days of Garam Samosa.

Ok, let’s get onto the post:

  • Make sure you know what you want your blog page to be. What is it going to be about? What are you going to write about? The name? The colour scheme? The tag line? The logo?
  • Be ready to be asked why and what is the point of it. One thing I have always found tricky is explaining to people why I decided to start a blog page. I was asked the same or similar questions by numerous people. I was asked about why I do things in a certain way or how I do things. Things from cooking to outfits to my way through life.
  • Think about what you are comfortable talking about and what you are not comfortable talking about. I am always up for suggestions and requests for blog posts. However, if I can’t relate to the topic or don’t support the topic then I won’t make the post. One time I was asked to talk about drugs. I was triggered by the topic and instead wrote about Why I Don’t Like to Take Drugs or Smoke. There is a fine line between writing for your audience and having boundaries.
  • Talking about audience, think about the audience you aim to write to. My initial audiences were my friends and peers. Now, I write for my future self. I reflect on my own life and situations. I think about how I could have changed or the life lessons I learnt. I write about it and share it with the wonderful readers of Garam Samosa. It works for me…
  • Be confident about your content and actively work to spreading the news. I turned my personal Instagram into a business Instagram. I made a Facebook page dedicated to Garam Samosa. I always slip in a blog post during a conversation that someone could benefit from. I actively work and worked to tell anyone and everyone about my blog page. Now I even have a TikTok page dedicated to the ‘behind the scenes’ of Garam Samosa.

I wish someone would have held my hand through this adventure. However, I did it on my own. I worked day in and day out. I went against my odds. I found what worked for me and what didn’t. I drew inspiration from my own life and turned it into a blog page. I have people who use Garam Samosa against me and some who use it for me. However, it is worth it. At the end of the day, I know that someone out there in the world read my post and found it useful. I have a helping nature. This blog page was an extension of that nature of mine. I asked the opinions of friends and peers and made it all work.
